Youth

Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)
Episcopal Youth Community is a group of 7th through 12th graders who are becoming Christ-followers through Bible study, fellowship, and service to others. Generally, EYC meets in the Youth Room (on the second floor of the Parish Life Center) on Sundays following the 11:15 a.m. worship service. We eat lunch together, reflect on our week, have Bible study, and play games. We also have off-campus fun outings, lock-ins, and service projects.
Confirmation
Once a youth is in tenth grade, we begin looking to Confirmation.
Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which we "express a mature
commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit
through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop" (BCP, p.
860). For youth at St. Alban’s, Confirmation preparation spans
several months and covers the promises made on their behalf at
their Baptism, a brief history of the Church, and instruction in the
liturgy and customs of the Episcopal Church. All youth Confirmation
candidates are matched with a mentor who walks along side them
on this journey.
Mission Trip
Each year, the EYC members and adult participants spend a week
serving a community. This inter-generational trip builds lasting
relationships, exposes youth to a wider view of God’s creation and
God’s children, and instills a deeper understanding of our calling to
love and serve. In years past we have ventured to Atlanta, Houston
,and New Orleans, Denver, and Port Aransas (for Harvey Recovery). In June 2019 we served the community of Memphis, TN.
Lisa Perez is the Youth Minister and would love to answer any questions you might have about youth ministry at St. Alban's! You can find out more about her on our staff page.
